Summer Support Summer Social Programs at Communication Works Summer is a great time to practice being social. Whether you are joining a group for the first time or continuing services from the school year, summer offers a chance to relax, reinforce learned social skills, and have fun. If your school-year schedule did not allow the time to participate in social communication groups, take advantage of the summer months and give yourself or your child a boost for the fall. Our Making Connections summer program offers a fun and safe environment for clients (pre-k to adults) to practice social thinking and related social skills. Our cutting-edge social groups bring together students of similar ages, abilities, and needs for weekly sessions. The program is 6–8 weeks in length during the summer and includes community outings that explore a more real-world setting (for example, trips to horse stables, outdoor playgrounds, downtown Oakland or San Francisco, museum exhibits, bowling alleys, or the redwood forest). Participants work in small groups (2–4 clients) to acquire skills in how to cooperate, communicate, and make connections! Individual sessions are also available. Each Session Includes:
Join us this summer for a boost in social skills and confidence heading into the next school year. Space is limited, so plan ahead for the program that is best suited for you or your child! Click here to download Making Connections Summer Flyer (PDF)
