Developmental milestones are skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye". They are markers set forth by early childhood experts as a tool to measure a child’s growth.

Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move (crawling, walking, etc.). How your child plays, learns, speaks, and acts offers important clues about your child’s development.

When milestones are continuously missed, it is considered to be a “red flag” or indicator that early intervention may be needed to help a child increase their development.
