Social Support for Adults Navigating The Social World For some individuals, interacting with people comes naturally. However, for those with social challenges or anxiety, everyday social situations are often difficult. For these people, Social Thinking™ and related social skills must be learned and practiced.* Communication Works’ (CW) social learning services teach adults to communicate and connect in order to build and maintain personal and professional relationships. Our weekly individual or group sessions offer a safe and relaxed setting in which people of similar abilities and ages can discuss and practice social learning concepts. Individual sessions focus on specific goals developed by the client and therapist. Our Program We explore a wide range of topics involved in relating to others at work, at home, in class, or in the community:
Structure Our social groups and individual sessions meet 1-2 times a week and are led by an experienced, licensed, and certified therapist. Individual services and groups are geared for those who struggle socially whether or not there has been a specific diagnosis. Each group’s focus and goals are guided by CW therapists and determined by group members through weekly check-in and discussion. We emphasize the concepts of perspective-taking and thinking about others.
